Information you provide directly

• Account information: name, email address, and password when you register
• Profile responses: your answers to Stage 1 self-assessment questions (strengths, interests, values, environment preferences, lifestyle preferences)
• Career exploration data: option cards you review, shortlist selections, and decision matrix inputs
• Experiment and reflection logs from Stage 4
• Action plan preferences and progress

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: pages visited, features used, time spent in each stage
• Device information: browser type, operating system, screen size
• Log data: IP address, access times, referring URLs

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, personalize, and improve our career exploration services
• Generate AI-powered career path recommendations tailored to your profile
• Send account-related emails (verification, password reset, service updates)
• Allow counselors, parents, or guardians you authorize to view your progress
• Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the product (we use anonymized data only)
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data to serve advertising.

4. Artificial Intelligence Disclosure

Future Me, Answered uses AI language models (including models from OpenAI and Google) to generate career path recommendations, salary estimates, action plans, and personalized insights.

Important limitations: AI-generated content is based on publicly available labor market data and general patterns. It is not professional career counseling advice. Salary figures are national median estimates — actual compensation varies significantly by region, employer, experience, and economic conditions. We recommend using this tool as a starting point for exploration, not as the sole basis for major life decisions.

Your profile data (Stage 1 responses) is sent to AI providers to generate personalized recommendations. This data is processed under our agreements with those providers and is not used to train their models.

5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

Our service is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@futuremeanswered.com and we will delete that information promptly.

For users aged 13–17, we encourage family involvement. Our platform includes a parent & guardian portal that allows authorized parents or guardians to view (but not modify) their student’s career exploration progress.

6. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to: know what personal information we collect about you; request deletion of your personal information; opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information); and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

7. Data Retention & Security

We retain your account and profile data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide services. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings, which will remove your personal data within 30 days.

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure session management, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

• Turso (database hosting) — stores your profile and career data securely
• OpenAI / Google — AI model providers for career recommendations
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Stripe — payment processing (if applicable; Stripe handles payment data directly and we do not store card numbers)
• Vercel — website hosting and deployment

Each provider operates under their own privacy policy and data processing terms.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on our website. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
